Right now I'm using a B45 and to me it sounds kinda stuffy do you have any mouthpiece suggestions? (Pomarico Crystal?)

I've refaced dozens of Pomarico crystals (just finished one last night, in fact) and play on them myself on Eb and Bb soprano and bass clarinets. Generally I've found they have lousy facings from the factory (too short and with an incorrect curvature), and as a result they usually are very resistant (stuffy) and have an excessively bright, hard-edged sound.
With a good refacing they can play and respond beautifully, and of course the facing never changes dimensions -- unless the mouthpiece is damaged by mishandling, which is a real risk with crystal. Even then, it's hard to make them really free-blowing.
Therefore I would not recommend them if you're looking for a mouthpiece with low resistance.

BC21 - Dave S has refaced my 2 Poms [Old GG's] and they are the best playing bass cl mps I've found/tried. Several of our fine refacers like to begin with the tried/true Selmer C*, or other good mps of their choice, so you will find "raves" as you Search our BB archives. I'm sure that some of the "interior dimensions" have a role in playability and resistance and the make/age of your BC must contribute also. Try as many as you can, making sure your BC is tight [leak-proofed] . My Pom alto cl mp, [not yet refaced, D S !] seems quite good as received, certainly doesn't hold me back. Don

Selmer mouthpieces vary from great to poor, but the good ones are really good. My backup is a stock (i.e. not refaced) Selmer model H. Fobes mouthpieces are excellent but expensive (my main is Fobes). I really like Vandoren for Bb clarinet, but I don't really like them for bass clarinet (though many professionals play the B40 and some other models as far as I know). Pomaricos can be also great or bad, David Spiegelthal said it all about them. You might also really like Viotto mouthpiece. They are some of the best mouthpieces I've ever played, with a completely different sound than I've ever had (maybe other forum members who use these strange terms might call it darker sound). If that sort of sound was what I wanted (I'm pretty much looking for the opposite) then maybe they would be my first choice.

I play on a Walter Grabner CXBS model bass mpc and am quite pleased. Before that, I had a Vandy B45 that had been refaced by my old college clarinet teacher. However, it was always on the "stuffy " side, but had a nice sound and would not project. With the Grabner, I can play loud or soft and maintain a nicely focused sound that blends as well as "projects". It also responds well on those "problem" notes, G#5 & A5. FWIW, my clarinet is a Buffett Prestige low C model 1193-2.
Walter is a sponser of this BB and a really nice person to work with. Give him a call. His products are great and not overly costly.
(and I do not get paid for recommending his mpcs, if that matters)
