 info on some instruments?

Let me start off by saying what an amazing site this is. This is my first post but ive been looking around the site for a while, and being a 16 year old collge-music-major-hopeful it has really helped me learn a lot. Thank you all.

To the point. My main concert instrument is a Buffet R-13, but as a backup i use an instrument labeled as a Regency (by Leblanc). I played this instrument for the first two years of highschool and it plays very well for the price my parents paid for it. Now that i have moved up to a professional model instrument it has faded back to my backup. Even so, I would like to know more about this instrument...there is very limited information about it anywhere. What exactly is it? Is it some mid-level Leblanc, relabled as something else? Or another instrument entirely? I would like to try to have someone get it more in tune, repad it, possibly have the bore and body oiled. I want to know if it would really be worth it with this instrument.

The other instrument I need some information on is a Leblanc Infinite. I'm in the local Junior Symphony and we are playing Tchaikovsky's fifth symphony, and as im sure most of you know its written for Klarinette in A. Being as I dont have an A and dont have the money to buy one at the moment, the Symphony had me borrow one from them. This is it. I know it isnt produced anymore. Why? What level of instrument is this? IE Intermediate, Advanced, Professional...etc. What instrument took its place?

Thanks in advance for the answers I know I'll recieve!

The Infinite was the model just below the Concerto, and it was probably the last pro Leblanc to use the classic Leblanc keywork - inline side and trill keys and seperate post mountings for the C#/G# and Ab/Eb keys.

It's an entry-level pro clarinet in the same league as the R13 and Selmer 10S clarinets, though I think it's a much nicer instrument than those two.

It was made during the time Leblanc sold out.

Hi Marshall, back in the dark ages, I played in Mich State's band. Re-reading your post, I was unsure what info you had re: the A cl. As far as I know, the model name, Regency, was used only by Boosey and Hawkes, of England. We have friends on this BBoard who know of them, not I, tho. Don

Thanx, Mark, Don

B&H used the name 'Regent' (presumably from their address - 295 Regent St. London W1) for their student line of instruments (both brass and woodwind).

I own and play an Infinite' as well as R-13 and Concerto Bb Sop clarinets. In my opinion my Infinite' is equal to my R-13s in all respects.

At the time they were launched I would have definitely chosen the Infinites over the Concertos, but I couldn't justify buying a pair of new clarinets as I was hardly playing clarinet at all then (and had a perfectly decent set of CTs collecting dust).
