My clarinet is a Selmer Omega. I'm positive it has to be a Paris Omega but after looking at serial number lists it dates back to the 50s being an M model. It doesn't have that mechanism like the BTs did so thats another hint its more than likely not from the 50s. I look at it and the case it's in and everything can't be from the 50's so im enlisting your help. Is this the 50's Paris Omega or was there a late 90s early 2000s Paris Omega that went unheard of? I got the clarinet used but it was a great deal because it was just overhauled. It was originally purchased at McFayden Music of Fayetteville which is ownedd by Brook Mays Music Group.

Is the M followed by a four figure or five figure serial number?
Only the keywork looks fairly recent (having concave bevelled cups rather than straight), and the old M series had a metal tenon ring on the top joint and the bell was almost a straight cone. The pillar heads for the F/C and Ab/Eb keys are small on this clarinet - the older M series had large pillar heads which were the same size as all the others, and cut away to make clearance for the keys.

It looks to me to be a recent 'M' series.
Pop the LH first finger spring back into it's slot.

Your Selmer Paris Omega is a resent instrument. I just recently overhauled one of these N-series Paris Omegas. So I'm 100% sure.
Omega from the 50s is a ''Centered Tone" Omega. "Centered tone" marking appears on the UJ.
I do own a "Centered Tone" Omega from 1957

I agree with Vytas (I also own a mid-1950s Omega; the version that includes the "Leblanc patent" throat Bb vent). In addition to the Centered Tone marking on the upper joint, the carving that continues between the lower joint and the bell is quite ornate (and hand carved) on the 1950s models. The modern instrument pictured here often shows up at auction whereas the 1950s ones do not show up very often at all (I have seen one in two years). The 1950s instrument was apparently marketed as a high-end professional instrument (see many other posts on this BB).
It is unfortunately that Selmer re-used the name and the carved bell design from the 1950s in the 1990s, thus causing a lot of confusion. George
