Hello!
For those of you who didn't get to see my post about wether playing French Horn would affect my Bass Clarinet playing, here it is in a nutshell: I am able to play in two bands, on in which I am the only bass and the other where there are two basses already. My director wanted me to play French Horn for that one.
I got mixed opinions on wether this would be negative or positive, so I decided to give it a shot. After about two weeks of playing and enjoying the beautiful sound and challenge, my bass clarinet embouchure actually improved.
Before I was unable to curl in my top lip on the mouthpiece since I have thin lips, now I can. My stamina when playing the bass has improved immensely. I don't get tired as easily anymore and my lips don't start frowning and biting after an hour of rigorous practice.
I know this is a very controversial issue, but playing both a brass and woodwind instrument has enhanced my playing tremendously.
8 hour rehersals, here I come!
