Which pads for a metal clarinet?
Author: Kruzi

Hi!

Since the pads on my trusty old Three Star are starting to dissolve I am
looking forward to give it a complete overhaul, including fresh pads. But
which pads are recommendable? Leather? Fishskin? Goretex or even silicone ones? I have read that these have an audible influence on the overall sound of the instrument and now I`m not sure which ones to go for
to get the best out of this old horn:

Any ideas?

Take what you`ve got and make the best of it!

Yep, I second leather pads.

A third vote for leather, but I would opt for the white ones on a metal clarinet.
