I'm trying to determine the date of manufacture of my Buffet A clarinet, serial # 1L139
Buffet's web site is broken (http://www.buffet-crampon.com/instruments/SerialNumber.asp). I wrote them ten days ago to report it and to ask them about my serial number. It still isn't fixed and I haven't gotten a response from them.
One web site, http://www.musictrader.com/buffet.html lists my serial number (as 1917). Two other web sites don't list my serial number at all which I find very odd:
http://www.woodwind-shop.com/clarinetnumbers.html
http://www.dancipsax.com/iserialbuffetclr.html
I've no reason to doubt 1917 except that 1Lxxx numbers don't exist at the other sites. Any thoughts?
Perhaps of significance: Serial number appears only at the bottom of the lower joint; it does not appear on the upper joint. The register key is straight, not wraparound. The logo on upper joint reads (as best as i can make out) Buffet / Crampon & Cie / a Paris; the barrel and bell have an identical logo. The left hand C#/G# key and right hand F#/C# key use leaf springs (screwed to their undersides) rather than needle springs. All pivot screws are black in color, rather than shiny. Keywork is "German Silver".
Is all of this consistent with 1917? Why is the serial number missing on several web sites?
Thanks for your thoughts.

Interesting that this site has a serial number chart. It didn't turn up in a Google search and thus I wasn't aware of it.
