As mentioned under the "bore size" thread, US Patent 6,054,644, Inventors Allen and Malone [LA, CA area?]is very interesting [to me] both in subject matter and its review of cl history and bore-size considerations. It is readily available [but without drawings easily] from the IBM and/or USPTO patent search sites. A full copy will be available from Patent Depository Libraries, about which your local reference librarian can help you. I'll be glad to help re: specific questions. If anyone knows of its commercialization, please post it. 'Nuff for now. Don

 Don,
I believe that Yamaha is now producing those barrels under license. Threaded top & bottom pieces, reversible center "bore" section?

TKS, Mark, it sounds like it. Is it being advertised in any of the fliers from BW&WW, Muncy, Weiner et al?? Don

I don't see them on the Yamaha Web pages anymore. I tried them out at the Yamaha factory in Grand Rapids last year. They were plastic ends, brass treaded interchangeable barrels. Heavy! Were too tight a fit (on Yamahas, Selmers, and Buffets). Interesting idea, though.

They were listed in the WW&BW catalog.
