Reading about other older clarinets has made me wonder about my old standby. I bought it old and used in about 1963.
La Monte with a serial number of 3837
on the bell it says Hors-concourse

This is an interesting clarinet, and I'm afraid I don't have any answers, because the markings seem to contradict a couple of my beliefs -- I thought that "LaMonte" was the student line of clarinets made by Martin Freres, and the "Couesnon" marking would indicate that the clarinet was actually made by Couesnon (who marketed clarinets under the own name sometimes, but also under the "A. Fontaine" stencil frequently). Perhaps there was a period when Couesnon was also manufacturing the LaMonte line? Can you give us more details about the clarinet itself? Is it wood, hard rubber, or plastic? If it's not wood, does the upper joint have a metal liner in the bore (as some LaMontes I've seen do)? Is it Albert system or Boehm?
