Greetings,
I have several of these very old Selmer blanks (with the estucheon on the back, BOTTOM), and several bear what I used to think were "serial numbers." The 6-digit numbers run parallel to the table, on the right-hand side (ad you look at the table). Richard Hawkins seemed to indicate they were actually patent numbers. I must admit, two mouthpieces I have bear numbers that are only two digits apart from being identical.
Patent numbers, right?

They may be marked with Brand Scientific System facing markings.
What are the numbers?

The ones I saw had numbers which were something like 10134, which as Merlin suggests sound like facing markings -101 tip and 34 length. I have only seen a couple and they all seemed to have numbers that were right in the ballpark of standard facings. I have not seen that many so I don't have enough to go on. It is only a guess on my part. Maybe people who have seen others or who have some could list them and it may help.

It looks to me that Merlin and Ed are RITE, patent #'s will be 6 or 7 digits, which I can help in looking up, so if Bill will post we can check. Don

34096 (table HS*; bottom logo)
34096 (no table marking; bottom logo)
34098 (table HS*; bottom logo)
37120 (table HS**; bottom logo)
Gosh, I guess the numbers are the facing(s).
