clarinet duet for a church service

Does anyone have suggestions for clarinet duet music that would be appropriate for a church service? This is for experienced players. Classical music is preferred over transcriptions of hymns.

Try some Mozarts, divertimenti, adagios, also Handel wrote some that I've played. Don

Thanx, Mark, Don

My son and I played the duet "Au Fond du Temple" from Bizet's Pearl Fishers (originally for tenor and baritone voices) at a wedding (Tenor Sax, Euphonium, Piano); might also work well for two clarinets, bass clarinets, saxes. Lovely work, solemn in nature.

I'll bet! I saw the opera Dialogues of the Carmelites, the only Poulenc work I know.

At least no one would sleep through it.

This isn't clarinet duet repertoire per se, but my husband and I have played a couple of different movements of the Telemann Canonic Sonatas at church. They sounded quite celebratory in a nice echoey cathedral.

What about transcribing a short section of the Bach Double Vn Concerto ? with organ, or are you playing unaccompanied?

Here is a link for a free download of the Chorale and Variation VII from Brahms Variations on a Theme by Haydn. This is a part of a set of duets named "Comfort Music" made with the idea of playing at church or other quiet music needs. You can download any or all of the duets, quartets, or woodwind quintet. I have been using this as a thank-you for those who sign up for my newsletter, but list members are welcome to it as well.

Delibes: Flower Duet from Lachme. I did an arrangement for two unaccompanied clarinets that my wife and I played at her brother's wedding, as it was a favourite of the bride's. It would be no big deal for an experienced musician to transcribe, adding a piano or organ accompaniment.
