In a reply to an inquiry about reed allergy, it was suggested that my friend try Gonzalez reeds. I logged onto the site: http://www.gonzalezreeds.com/ and heard the loveliest of tunes played on solo bass clarinet (I am sure it was the bass clarinet). Someone please listen to it and tell me what it is called and where I can get the music.

I don't know what is the piece, but it sounds to me like a Selmer bass clarinet. I would guess probably Henri Bok is the player because in the bass clarinet convention I saw an add for Gonzalez with him on it, and he said he plays Gonzalez reeds.
Your best chance is to email Gonzalez and ask them.

Yes I emailed them yesterday. Heard nothing yet. I am an inpatient devil. At my age we have to use every minute.

You should email Henri Bok, I'm willing to bet it is him because: The sound is very smooth and refined, he plays Gonzalez reeds, it sounds like a Selmer bass, he has a couple of solo bass clarinet CDs, I'm not crazy about the playing or sound much. I can't think of any other bass clarinetist that has all these things in common about him.
Just search for his name and you'll find his website with the contact information. I emailed him twice, one time he answered, the other he didn't. Worth a try.

On the advice of Clarnibas, I emailed Henri Bok. He was the performer and the piece was by Gerard Brophy written for solo bass cl called 'Chorinho prá ela' and is on Bok's CD called "Wicked".
Problem solved. I will buy the CD.
