help locating sheet music for Concerto in Eb by Rossler...
Author: ving

Hello,

I am wondering if anyone could assist me in locating a copy of Concerto in Eb by Rossler. I have a student performing this, and I cannot recall if this is published individually or if it is in one of the solo collection books. Reason for this post is the student of course is not here today, and Easter break tomorrow and Monday--and solo contest on Wed. Anyhow, you get the drift! I am trying to track down a judges copy...

Thanks much!

It is published by Rubank, edited by Himie Voxman, c1959.

Since you refer to the composer as Rossler, I presume you are looking for the Voxman edition. Luyben Music:

http://www.luybenmusic.com/

lists it in their online catalog under music for clarinet and piano but I can't find it at sheetmusicplus.

(You probably already know this but, just in case) Rossler also went by the name Rosetti. If the Rossler/Voxman isn't in stock, the Rosetti listed at Luyben (for alot more money [frown] ) might do (and sheetmusicplus lists two different editions of a Rosetti clarinet concerto in Eb) ...but there are some potential pitfalls:

1. Rossler/Rosetti actually wrote two clarinet concertos in Eb so make sure you're getting the right one,

2. Mr. Voxman has written in some ornaments as though they were integral to the piece. A different edition might look different to the judges. At least, the Voxman edition sounds noticeably different in some places than the Dieter Klocker recording (where Klocker presumably did his own ornamentation),

3. Luyben Music, while generally reliable, doesn't always have their list up-to-date so I recommend you call rather than order online and make sure you have the right concerto.

If Luyben doesn't have it, try calling Eble Music -- great stock and very knowledgable people.

Best regards,
jnk
