Because of a number of negative comments about this supplier during the past few months I thought I should mention that I have made two recent purchases and have been very satisfied with the inventory situation, the delivery and the customer service. I have no personal interest in this business.

I've experienced mostly good delivery, price and product. Only those times when an order (order situation) falls in the cracks, the cracks can be pretty deep.
Their repair staff is top drawer, particularly for clarinet and related overhauls etc.

My past few orders have been fine, though they did have some problems last fall with being out of stock of nearly everything LOL. Lately everything I have ordered from them has been shipped right out.

Hi,
I order from WWBW regularily and they have always been just fine. For those that may not be aware, WWBW has moved into a new warehousing scheme over the past 8 months or so.
I don't know how you are when you move but I'm still looking for a computer power cable after 5 years!

I have had no trouble with WWBW, it did take them a little longer than usual to send me a new double case, but that was because of the move. For my troubles they gave me free shipping for 6 months so I can't complain.
By the way, has anyone tried ordering Chadash barrels from them. They are so backed up they still haven't shipped my three barrels (because they don't have them), and I ordered them in September! Are there that many people ordering these barrels?

I'm still noticing certain items perpetually backordered.
Rovner Dark LIgatures for one - they keep pushing back the delivery date, and have been for 6-7 months.
I ordered 3 replacement cases, one shipped immediately, the other 2 are back ordered.
Certain brands/strengths of reeds are listed in their cataloge, but are never in stock - Gonzales for one - they have some strengths, are always out of others.
In the last week or so, I have trouble browsing their site - very slow server response.
I have some discount coupons they've given me - the ordering system won't accept the discount codes.
They still seem to be having computer problems IMO.

I'm in the same boat - waiting for a Chadash barrel for my A since Oct/Nov or so. A couple weeks ago they sent a standard Buffet barrel and I had to send it back. Maybe they were thinking I wouldn't notice...
Has anybody found a supplier that has these in stock?

Regarding the availability of Chadash barrels, I have also been waiting for the Chadash barrels to be restocked at WWBW since Oct. I ended up calling Mr. Chadash directly, and ordered one directly from him. He has a new model that does not have the rings, which he claims sounds even better. The price is a little higher, but I don't know of any other place to get one right now.

Call Phil Shapiro (Davie Cane) directly, or try some of the other retailers who carry Gonzalez reeds. Their names are listed on the Davie Cane web site...GBK

Long time ago I bought a clarinet from WW&BW. The barrel cracked and it was after the warrenty past, but WW&BW sent me a Chadash barrel for free!
The only minor problem I had with them is they sent me a strange device instead of a box of reeds I ordered. It turned out this thing was about twice more expensive.... never used it or was able to return it.
I did have problem with their customer service though. I emailed about an item, and wanted to make sure it had all the accessories since the description on their website was lacking. I was told to order and if I don't like it just return it, and they suggested to call for more details. I called and the guy said it again to order for trial. I asked if it is possible to find out about the detials I want and he said no. Then I said that I can't order and return it since I'm outside of the USA, and he simply told me that I shouldn't order in that case. Not the most helpful customer service....
I still order from them reeds since they have the best prices and usually free shipping.

Have you compared WWBW reed prices with Weiners? I did recently and found at the time that Weiners had far better prices - even with the NY State sales tax that I had to pay.
My only objection to WWBW is that they closed their store in Manhattan - I bought two clarinets there and loads of other stuff. It was truly a state-of-the-art musical instrument store with great rooms for trying out horns. I suppose you could say they were victim of New York's insane real estate market, but I wonder how hard they tried to find a new place.
On the other hand, now that I think of it, if they had kept a store in New York, I would probably be broke and divorced by now. Good move WWBW!

You are right, Weiner's prices are better. One thing I like about WW&BW is they say what's in stock on the website. Next time I will definitely check if Weiner will have a better price (I order to NY so there is sales tax). They also have free shipping for orders $60 and up which is a lower minimum than WW&BW.
I also was at the Manhattan store of WW&BW before it closed and even bought a clarinet there. I was also at the main store in Indiana and bought a clarinet there. The NY store was much nicer and reminded me a little of the instrument stores in Paris. The Indiana store was like a supermarket.

You may notice that in the new WWBW catalog the Chadash barrels are $119 on page 38 and $124.95 on page 85. Doesn't matter - they don't have them at any price. Luckily I got mine from them a year or so ago. They actually sent me 3 of them to try. Must have been a run on them after that. Don't give up the search - the intonation on my 1967 R-13 is 100% better with the Chadash.

I only realised a while ago that the WWBW website is actually the same as www.music123.com. Same products, prices, reviews etc.
Is there any difference at all? Is WWBW a subsidiary of music123 or vice versa? Why on earth have another website in any case?

Guy Chadash has been making the barrels for Buffet Crampon but they have not been finding their way back to the United States for sale. I saw them with my own eyes in his shop so I can only speculate that they are being consumed in Europe and Asia and not finding their way to the New World. This is not WWBW's or any other retailer's fault. I was able to get in stock only certain sizes of the Chadash barrel in quantity and others not at all. I'm hopeful with Buffet's move from California to Florida that things will settle in and more product will flow from France. Regardless of who you deal with, if you want them get yourself on a backorder list because the pent up demand is enormous.

I ordered a couple of Buffet synthetic swabs back in December and according to WWBW, Buffet is telling them they should have them by 4/10/06. This is the 6th such email from WWBW, I also need to mention everything else on my oder was shipped promptly.
Regarding Chadash barrels, I just checked the Weiner Music site, they appear to have 65mm-67mm barrels for both A & Bb clarinets in stock.
I have also heard that he (Chadash) is making his own barrels now with his own logo and not the Buffet logo. Has anyone else heard anything about this? I think I saw one on that very popular auction site, you know, the site where several people have contracted the G.A.S. or the Bad G.A.S.

Guy makes very few of the "custom" barrels. They are really the barrels for his Chadash clarinets. He will make them for certain people and isn't just taking a zillion orders off the street. His deal is that his barrels are principally distributed through Buffet.

How does the return policy work for things such as ordering a few clarinets, and then sending them pack. Do you have to specify that you want to play test them with the intention of sending some of them back, or is the standard return policy apply for these as well? My situation is that I ordered a few Chadash barrels, and then I will send two back.

Over the past five years or so, I've ordered many, many items from both Music 123 and WWBW. Not just instruments (two of those were ordered) but also accessories for instrumental music, sound system equipment (PA heads, speaker cabinets, microphones, a mixer board) and other such stuff.
While I did have the wrong thing shipped once, that was the sum total of my problems. Every other order was 100% correct, timely fulfilled, and shipped in a well protected mode. Staff that I've had to deal with were professional, if not 100% conversant with the particular items that I was concerned about at the time.
In a way, they're much like Wal Mart. Huge selection of all sorts of stuff (if you think they carry a lot of wind horns, you should check out the rock aspect of their inventory), staff that have to deal with a lot of issues beyond the specialties that they might have, and (in general) lower prices than the "mom and pop" operations from which we have been forced to make our purchases in the past. Sure, I'd like my new horn to be perfectly set up, handed to me by an old world craftsman working for the seller, and in a wood paneled room with complementary pastries on the table. But, for a substantial savings, I'll eat the atmosphere and attention and have it done on my own.

Well, I succumbed to them again (we don't have a very good shop in our area)...and bought a few items from them. I have to laugh, as most of my order was for swabs (1 for me and 2 for my sax playing brother). I also ordered a MH48 stand so that I dont have to deal with my partially broken folding stand (it has been bent badly). I hope that I get everything as ordered (and by the end of the week *crosses fingers*). I have now placed 5 orders with WWBW, only one experience has been negative.

I have recently had not so good experiences with WWBW. I ordered an Eddie Daniels Rovner lig that I sorely need and have just been informed it'll take another month to get here (I ordered it two weeks ago). It also took forever to get a Korg metronome/tuner I ordered (very nice piece of equipment by the way, the TM-40). I've also been waiting nearly three months for a silly little guitar foot stool.
They're always quick with reeds, but I never thought it would take them a month and a half to get a pretty common ligature to me.
I guess it's back to Weiner!
