 fobes barrel with ring

hi, i came across this fobes barrel with ring, is there any different with the ones without ring? thanks :)

I assume that by mentioning " with ring ", you are referring to the metal rings as seen on ....for ex:, Buffet , Chadash and perhaps other factory barrels.

If this is the case, that is the older style bbl made by Clark . Also, if you look REAL close inside the socket and tenon ends of the bbl (you may need a magnifying glass) , you may see a ring (like the 'rings' seen on a tree when cut.

If your bbl has this, it's indicative of the delron (hard rubber) insert he used in making those bbls.
There is nothing 'wrong' with this style. In fact, some players prefer the insert model. Sometime ago, in a convo with Clark, he mentioned that in feedback he had received , the 'insert' bbl gave a warmer/softer sound compared to the 'conventional' bbls.
Thre aren't many of these aroound and my age is betraying me as I don't recall why Clark discontinued them.
