 Study material information

Hi everyone, I have looked on the net and can't seem to find what I am after.

I want to buy:

Enseignement Complet de la Clarinette par A. Perier

I believe it is a study book.. mmm

Does anyone have or either know the price of it?

I would like to know about it, as in how much approximately (or exactly) it would cost?

Thank you all in advance

A Google search would have taken you here:

http://www.lib.umd.edu/PAL/SCPA/P.html

which suggests that it is a series of books, published in the 1930s.

My guess - and it is only a guess - is that it has been out of print for decades.

If there are so many people on this board unwilling or unable to have a civil and balanced discussion about important issues, then I shan't bother to post here any more.

To the great relief of many of you, no doubt.

The A. Périer books were popular methods to use when I was in college (perhaps they still are?) and include at least 11 different titles/volumes.

In general, the exercises/studies/sonata transcriptions, etc... are quite challenging and require a good deal of time to perfect.

I still have 3 of the books, Recueil De Sonates volumes 1, 2 and 3, which are transcriptions of Baroque violin sonatas.

Very difficult...

Although I don't own the Périer Vingt Études De Virtuosité or the Vingt-Deux Études Modernes, I do remember playing through a few of the exercises in each book and they would be a nice addition to have in one's music library.

The 331 Exercices Journaliers de Mécanisme is available from Gary Van Cott: http://www.vcisinc.com/clarinetmusicstudies.htm

Yes well my teacher showed me the studies book, and I want to get them. I just need a price that they are worth. I have access to a book to buy, he just wants me to find out the approximate cost.

I notice that it's hard to find anywhere which advertises the price of them. Thanks for the link GBK. They list a similiar book but not the same one, I pressume that the one I have with 33 pages of studies would cost close to the price listed for the A. Perier book there. These must be centuries out of print though.

Thank you

Hello,

I used the book when I was a student. If it is the one that I am thinking about, then it is a book of patterns that go throughout all of the registers of the clarinet. Low E to High G. Basically, you do one line from each page every day in whatever method that you choose to practice. There are some nice trickey patterns in there. I believe that a good place to order and or get a price would be Luyben Music.

I would suggest Eble Music in Iowa City. They are published by Leduc and are expensive. Eble used to be able to get them for a lot less than other sources I checked. I have studied out of nine of the twelve volumes. The easier ones would fit in a course of study well after the Rose 40 and 32. The difficult ones would fit in well after the Uhl edudes. They are well worth your time.
