Greetings,
Does anyone know of a good & reliable clarinet repair shop in the Seattle area? The last time my clarinets were worked on was back in the early 80's in Boston and thet way past time for a tune up.

I've heard good things about Oberloh Woodwind and Brass Works on 1st Ave. So. I take my instruments Steve at Mills in Redmond. They used to have a horrible rep until Steve, who is a player, showed up. He does great work. Brad at Northwest Winds on Lake Street is supposed to be a phenom on saxes but they do clarinets too.

There's Scott Granlund in 3rd Ave in Seattle. He did a complete repad of my clarinet about 10 years back. It's lasted until now without any further work being needed, although I only play it a couple of times a week.

For those not in the area, Pentiction BC is about 330 miles from Seattle, or a nearly 6 hour drive and includes crossing the Cascade Mountains. Vancouver, BC is about 140 miles, or 2 1/2 hours from Seattle.
Locally, Brad at Northwest Winds overhauled my bass clarinet a year ago. He's on Lake City Way. I used to go to Mills Music in Woodinville when I was a kid and lived there - haven't been since high school but it sounds like they're good again.
I can't comment on the other references, but I'd suggest calling and talking to them.

Oberloh did a nice job on my LL and a friend from down by the Oregon border uses Grandlund for his Mazzeos. Penticton is a little far to drive.

I've heard Kennelly Keys in Lynwood is good. I bought a used clarinet from the Brass and Woodwind shop in Victoria BC. They have a good reputation.
