Hello
I was told recently by my instructor that I should always have "slight" pressure on the reed. Could this "slight" pressure be the same as a firm cushioning action, or should there always be some pressure exerted on the reed. Thanks, I'm really confused

For me, it's better to think of it as having a firm, supported musculature entirely around the whole mouthpiece (kinda like a rubberband). The upshot is that there will be some amount of "pressure" around the whole thing stuck in your face, it's just that you DON'T want to EVER think of biting.

'Pressure' on the reed comes from lips and blow, never from teeth or jaw. Blow, in turn, comes from somewhere way, way down in your middle.
