Professional Clarinetists,
Besides the usual Union paper, I have found two website gems pertaining to professional auditions. These two include :

Do any experienced auditioners have other gems they know of?
Where do YOU find out about open positions besides the paper?

Man, that myauditions.com is oppressive! Very difficult for a student with no significant professional gigs yet to make a resume without significant fudging.

I agree. Their resume wizard is very awkward for students with no professional experience. But then again, who hasn't "fudged" on their resumes? Although by fudging, I don't mean lying.

If you want to know how to put together a resume properly, Douglas Yeo gives a very good description of how to put together a resume and cover letter on his website. He specifically advises against fudging on your resume, he says it fools no one. Also, many of his articles are very informative and worth the time to read if you are currently on the audition circuit or planning to be soon. http://www.yeodoug.com

Two guys who fudged on their resumes in my company for one of my positions never made it through the interview process. Maybe that's the corporate world. But the world of music is much smaller, more people know each other, and check is just too easy. It's a shame about those two guys, they had so much promise and talent. And these positions were one-in-a-lifetime jobs. :o(
