Just a note to my clarinet friends because I know you will understand.
Although I am 50 years old, I am but a "babe" in the clarinet world. This weekend David Shifrin performed K622 with the Delaware Symphony Orchestra. I attended what would be my first live, professional performance of this piece.
Man.. how absolutely wonderful and everything that I expected it to be.
During the second movement I did not move, and don't think I could have if I tried. If I could have moved my first move would have been to dry my eyes.
I am grateful for the DSO, Shifrin, Mozart and whoever made his clarinet.
I can't wait until I can experience it again someday.
What a great motivational tool. I can't wait to practice tonight. Even doing the scales sounds like fun

I don't think that any human can avoid having tears well up when the orchestra spells the soloist in the first measures of the 2nd movement. I tear up just thinking about it, and have blown performances by being unable to stand beside myself and focus on doing my share in bringing this amazing melody to life.

You did not pick your fist live performance lightly, Mr Shifrin has shown numerous times flawless technique and exceptional musicianship. Wish I had been there.

I am lucky enough to be going to a performance of K622 by the Colorado Symphony with Bil Jackson this coming March.
