 Christmas Wish Lists~Backun, Kaspar, etc.
Author: Brenda Siewert
Date:   2005-11-23 20:38

After tomorrow, better known as THANKSGIVING here in the states, it will be time for Christmas shopping. I was compiling a little wish list for my husband and any other interested parties to consider and thought I'd post part here. Perhaps husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, lovers, friends or whomever is shopping for the perfect gift for a clarinetist will be directed here (what, by us?) to get ideas.

Here's mine: A Backun Grenadilla bell for my new Opus II and a new Backun mouthpiece.

Will some grateful soul send me a Backun bell, cocobolo or grenadilla, bored to work well with a post-400,000 serial # R13, and also a long-facing, close-tip vintage Kaspar mouthpiece with no interior scratches or other harm for Christmas?????? And a couple boxes of Oliveri #4 reeds???

Thank you in advance.

-Tyler

PS- and the Spriggs floating rail ligature if possible.
PSS- and a complete tuning/voicing adjustment of my R13.....
PSSS- and a Buffet Festival A clarinet with all the same stuff.....????

thanks again

I wish I could post a really nifty/hillarious list of those things that you can ONLY say on Thanksgiving. (use your imagination, mostly turkey-related).[grin]

It would get bleeped, I am afraid; but I sent it to GBK for personal amusement. [wink]

Gigs are good. I'd like to have the Kaspar mouthpiece back that I broke. Like maybe if I could take that whole day back it would be good.

I guess I'm lucky. I have no mouthpieces, barrels or bells on my wish list (I'm happy with the ones I have)!

But I have two clarinet related things on my Christmas wish list (and I'm not even christian).
The first is that the new case I bought to hold both my bass and soprano clarinets and make my life much easier will finally find some way to get to me.
The second is that bass clarinet reeds will be available in my country.

If someone could just slip me a Buffet Moenig 67mm Barrel, that would be fantastic. And some good Bass Clarinet Reeds strength 3 or 3.5. Thanks.

If Santa wants to put a vintage bass sax next to my Xmas tree, that'd be alright with me.

A software that is directly connected to a big CNC machine that lets you customize your own instrument but lets you try it before it is finished by means of some sort of virtual acoustic so if you like it you can choose different options, a truckload of grenadilla wood, and a lot of silver.

***...so do all who seen such times, but that is not for them to decide. All you can do is decide what to do with the time that is given to you.***

1. High speed, rather than dial-up, internet access so that I can access this bulletin board more easily. Oh, also a computer that is newer than my best mouthpiece.

2. A 1960s or 1970s Buffet R13 that has been professionally overhauled by a really good tech. (to replace my 92 year old vintage one that has been overhauled by a small town tech and has never really been right.)

4. Behn Vintage mouthpieces
5. Kaspar ligatures

7. And a C clarinet

Paul,
I hear that, before I joined the Army Band program, that would have been the best Christmas present ever. I felt your pain, but not anymore. I keep busy playing the clarinet now...

My Christmas wish is to be able to play again. I stopped playing quite some time ago because of embouchure dystonia which gave me some very unpleasant side affects to say the least.

Brad Behn has made me a wonderful offer to customize his Overture student mpc for me.

My hopes are high even though the odds are against me.

Best wishes to all.

Not to have to play Christmas music.

Oh, some talent would be nice too.

If there are so many people on this board unwilling or unable to have a civil and balanced discussion about important issues, then I shan't bother to post here any more.

To the great relief of many of you, no doubt.

I'd rather play it than constantly hear it in the stores ad nauseum.........

Time to don the headphones when I shop.
