What kind of cushion will fit the R13? The thumbrest seems bigger than others.

I use a big black rubber thingy sold under the name "Tom Thumb." No problems. Other black commercially available thingies can be accommodated by just cutting out a small notch at the top so it slides comletely on.
Best advice. Find the best position for you with the adjustable thumbrest that comes with the horn, then throw it out and have a standard, cheap thumbrest installed at that location and use a piece of medical tubing on that. The Buffet one will break anyway.

What was wrong with the older type of adjustable thumbrest Buffet used to fit on their Prestige models of old (well, about 20 years ago)? I'm sure they could have the same design made as a casting just as they do with their keywork.
The current design is crap, I've never seen these last.

BG markets a large thumb cushion model A23 that fits perfectly on the
newer Buffet thumb rests. Although it makes an already large thumb rest even larger.
Personally, I don't mind the feel of the current R13 uncovered thumb rest since it seems to distribute the weight over a large area of your thumb.

The thumbrest plate is a good design, I'll grant them that, but it's the sliding/locking part that does the whole thing an injustice, and the locking screw/hook part that does the damage - if tightened up too much it exerts too much pressure on an already weak part, better to have a washer or flange on the screw part to apply the pressure downwards rather than outwards as it does.
There are other designs that are compact and work better, and more importantly, much more robust than their current design.
