real silk velvet. will it damage silver plating?

Maybe someone knows if silverplating is affected by different types of velvet for lining cases. I'm thinking of re-lining a bam case in 100% silk velvet and wondering it it will damage silver plating.

Unless the velvet is treated with some sort of "sizing" coating it should not damage or cause silver plating to tarnish.

Why do you want to do that? The Bam cases are very nice for a silver-plated instrument.

Gilding the Lilly comes to mind.
