 Noblet bass case

Thanks for the support for my new old bass and opinions on the case. :)

And thanks to Michelle for the pics, so it seems like our cases are set up the same way, just the joint areas are switched.

After some scooting, and re-screwing on one wedge, I think my bass can fit in the case without the towels in there. But I am still having issues with the bottom joint. I know it isn't with how it is situated in the case (as it is opposite of Michelle's), but it is mainly the keys I am worried about.

The bottom joint's looong keys (the left pinky E, F, F# keys) stick up from the instrument when put in the case with the keys straight up. It seems that the joint tends to lay sideways with those keys into the wedges/side of the case, which ends up having the pointy spatula keys (Eb, E, F, F# on the right hand) sticking with the pointy parts up. Those right pinky keys seem to already be a little bent out of shape, and I can only think it's the case's fault. It just seems like the wedges of the case are too high, pushing the joint into the top of the case.

Is this something I should worry about, or does anyone have any suggestions? The wedges are already screwed in place and seem to be situated good for the horn, but maybe there is something else I can do? (And buying a new case isn't option with the $$ I already spent on the horn... the $$ I don't have!! lol)

Thanks,
Contragirl

How about screwing a small block of padded something in the channel to keep the joint from moving "up" and banging the overhanging keys on the case?
