In my current search for a new used clarinet I came across a web site offering the following professional models, all Leblancs. A 1167-L7, a 576 model and a " Paris" model. There is info on the L7 in the bulletin board archives that indicate that it was a high quality horn with a straight bore. I haven't found any information on a 576. There are some references to a Paris model in the archives but very little information. Can anybody shed some light on these models?

David - I have an L7 [ser # 43xxx], "Paris-made" I'm quite sure, as it was at Leb's top in the early '80's, a verygood playing/feeling cl, even if a bit "bright" tonality-wise. I have discussed it with others here and elsewhere, and it's 14.8+ mm [cyl] bore as compared to my fine Selmer CT with 15.0 mm [cyl] bore. Both excellent and different for one/another. Is the 576 of the LL series?, a long lasting Leb design, having many devotees. Others, please help. Don

Thanx, Mark, Don

A L7 Leblanc (low nserial number) I had - and then sold - was one of the better instruments I have ever played. A disappointing lower chaleaumeau, but in all other respects very artistic.

They are quite special.

Bill.

I called the music shop advertising these clarinets on their web site to get more information, the sales person I talked with promised to get back to me tommorrow after talking to their woodwind expert.

On the web site they list them as:

Leblanc 1167-L7 Bb Clarinet

Leblanc 576 Bb Clarinet

Leblanc Paris Bb Clarinet
