 Buffet Clarinet model
Author: mtague

Hi,

I have searched the web and this board, but cannot find information about a clarinet model I saw while browsing for a new horn. The only model information the person gave was that it was a Buffet Duo, it was in the key of Bb, and that it was brand new. In the picture I saw, there was a lil leaflet/booklet that said Clarinet Duo and it had the buffet logo, etc. I wanted to know if this is actually a model that Buffet makes and if there is any information on it. The person selling it never responded to my query and now the curiosity is getting the better of me.

Thanks!

But it doesn't tell you every model they made. While I've not heard of a "Duo" model, it doesn't mean that one never existed.

No, there is no such model. The seller didn't know what he was selling.

The "DUO" are the 2 reeds (Grand Concert "Duo of reeds" - it says that on the pack) that come along with it in the case. It was an Ebay Auction - nothing more, nothing less (wasn't mine, but I saw it).

Hi,

Thank you all for the responses. I was just curious about the clarinet model and whether or not it was real (I had never seen/heard of a "Duo"). There seem to be a lot of clarinets listed without any useful information. Sorry if my question seemed silly. I'm just researching the different models of clarinets I see.

Thanks again,
mtague

Mtague,

But that's the alure of eBay, finding that diamond in the rough (always before one of your BB pals outbids you). While it is distressing to have little and/or incorrect information provided by a less than knowledgable seller (like the Selmer 9** thread I recently started), finding that R13 stencil in "sheep's clothing" is a lot of fun and usually a financial triumph.

Granted, sometimes you end going on a wild goose chase but I have gotten some real treasures more often than not. I am sometimes embarassed by my good fortune but I'm not too proud to snag a real deal.

As Dave S. says "the uninformed eBay seller is your best friend."

You missed the point. Looking at Buffet's site does not tell you what models they MADE, only the models they MAKE, so using it for a reference is specious.

What you've now seen is David's statement that they never made a Duo, which is probably correct, but is not probative.

And doing a search on it which reveals that the search doesn't exist would make it fairly probative.
