OK here is music "composed" by the transcribing ....well you can figure it out.

I once did a very long paper for an english about the human genome project. It confused the heck out of my teacher and I got an A. Then I met someone that worked for Celera Genomics, and I was all excited cuz I had done so much research on the ethics of the Human Genome Project.

I'm a nerd... and it had nothing to do with this piece.

But, was it written by Celera or NIH? :P

I heard this piece performed by our local university band. I am of the old school, I perfer a well played transcription, but I must admit the Genome Symphony is one of the better sounding modern works.
The method of composition is contrived, but probally no more so then works based on 'B""A""C""H" or twelve tone. To me, the method of composition is not as important are the final result. Based on first hearing, it is a work that is more melodic then one would expect based on the composition method used. I believe it is a composition worth sight reading, programing is another story. This is not music for listeners with short attention spans.

Just listened to the Fanfare and looked at the score, it seems really cool. I like the way this piece sounds and also the concept behind it is pretty cool too! Everyone should go check it out! Also, the score looks like the clarinets have so great dissonant parts! I love dissonance!
