donald, one of north america's very fine orchestras. I own several CDs (CBC) and enjoy them very much. Their cousins in Montreal have gone on indefinate strike ... gawd!!
Without music, the world would be grey, very grey.

Galper played principal with the Toronto Symphony for 30 years.
Valdepenas became principal in 1980, so I would assume Galper was the principal for the 30 years preceeding...GBK

Montreal, ah the memories......
When I played the Scotia Music Festival, the Concertmaster of the Boston Symphony and the Concertmaster of the Montreal Symphony were both there, and had the bach double concerto to perform.
Chantal Julliet (Montreal) refused to play 2nd to Malcolm Lowe (Boston) - It was almost comical, as Lowe could have taught Julliet.

I had a tape of that Toronto Berlioz recording years ago, I recall it being quite good and very exciting.

Some times orchestral strikes do occur...Philly is also having much labour problems...it comes with territory whether you like it or no.
