I recently joined another band to play for my friends graduation (yeah, sad, I'd rather play through pomp and circumstance for 20 minutes than sit in the cold hard bleachers!). Anyways, I got to talking to the lady next to me, and she was telling me about the Vandoren 56 reeds for clarinet. They come in a spiffy looking black box with the number 56 on the top, and she says they adjust to different climates better. Has anyone ever heard of these reeds? If so, what do you think?
So many instruments to play........so little time to play them!

They are called "56 rue Lepic", which is Vandoren's address in Paris.
Do a search on Lepic and you'll find some opinions, both positive and negative.
As usual, the only true answer is "try them for yourself".

If there are so many people on this board unwilling or unable to have a civil and balanced discussion about important issues, then I shan't bother to post here any more.
To the great relief of many of you, no doubt.

Highly doubtful...
(I often wonder where these urban legends begin)
The packaging is different, but the 56 Rue Lepic reeds are made from the same cane as every other type of Vandoren clarinet/saxophone reed.
It is just modeled on a different template...GBK
