 Von Weber's Concertino

I am taking Concertino to contest this year and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to play it, any advice, tempo markings, etc. Anything interesting about this piece that many do not know? I would appreciate any insight you all have on this clarinet masterpiece.

Ken Shaw has written some excellent essays on the Concertino. They are (IMO) required reading for anyone working on this piece.

Search in the archives under "Shaw Concertino" (no quotes). You will find some valuable insights and performance suggestions...GBK

Thank you! I'll go look at it now! By the way: what does GBK mean?

Exactly what he says! [toast]

Best regards,

P.S. If you click on the GBK at the top of his post, you'll get a clue.
