Those who use the pomarico crystal mouthpiece, what ligature do you use with it. I find that many ligatures can hardly fit the mouthpiece; i.e. the mouthpiece is too "fat".

Hi W D !!! My Poms are for Bass cl, [OLD GG's], and Alto cl, new, and the usual ligs fit OK. As in [my and other's comments in] the Rovner thread, there is much more size "flexibility" in the Rov and its clones. I've had several old O'Brien glass sop mps refaced to "near" Pom modern facings, and do have some fit problems, but Bonades and Luybens are Ok. Don

Welcome to the B B !!! Try the Rovener as the above post states...they are much more flexible than harder materials...

This is also a problem with the Gigliotti mouthpiece.
I found the Francois Louis ligature works well. As does the Rovners or in general most cloth/fabric ligatures. Velcro should also work fine. The gigliotti Ligature would fit on it, however you might have a problem with slipping (which could be easily solved by sticking a piece of masking tape 3/4 of the way around on your mouthpiece and/or slightly sanding down the ribs of the gigliotti ligature). I'm sure the Vandoren Optimum would work there. Or you could always of course use the pomarico ligature.

I am using the BG Revelation ligature and it fits perfectly and sounds amazing with my R13.

I neglected to say that I'm referring to a b-flat soprano clarinet. I've tried the optimum, the eddie-daniels (rovner?) and the francois-louis. The optimum was too tight; the eddie-daniels fits but to the tight side; the francois-louis fits but a bit inconvenient, in my opinion, to secure. I've got to the point (before all your wonderful input) where I was going the velcro and shoestring routes. I've even started sourcing out the pomarico-light ligature, but I think that might be to the expensive side as I live in Canada (west coast) and probably the suppliers would be in the USA. Now, I've got so many other choices.

I too have found that the Vandoren Optimum was too tight and resorted to the old two-screw standby although it's very inconvenient. One of the members of our Clarinet Choir routinely uses a crystal and has no problem with the Optimum ligature, so these mouthpieces may be coming in different sizes - the year of make I wonder? Because of your posts now I have a choice to look into.

I use Pom crystals on Eb, Bb, and bass clarinets and alto sax and usually use the Vandoren "Masters" inverted metal ligatures, or Rovner fabric ligatures (which can, if necessary be easily altered to fit just about anything).

I use the special ligature that Pomarico designed to be played with it. The only problem I've had so far is that the lining inside of the lig sometimes slides down and I have to push it back up. Other than that I think it works great and sounds fine!

Try a Joue Jolie ligature from International Musical Suppliers. Costs about $12 and has a good grip. It's a snug fit with V12 reeds, but it holds. Looks cool to boot.
