Hello,
Does anyone know of pieces of chamber music that include the clarinet and double bass?
Much appreciated,
Tom

Determine how many performer's you'll have and start at:

For instance, if there just 2 of you, you'd find some interesting things at http://www.woodwind.org/Databases/Composers/Performers/003052.html, like Benny's Gig by Morton Gould (I've heard this one and liked it, though I don't remember where or who...)

Here are a listing of resources for the double bass compiled by my cousin, Jerry Fuller (former Lyric Opera bassist), of Evanston, ILL (USA):

BTW--Larry Combs included "Benney's Gig" on his AMERICAN CLARINETIST CD of some years ago.

Also don't forget to look at things that you can transpose or transcribe to clarinet (lets say there's a violin/double bass duet, you can transcribe the violin part) or cello, or whatever. If you include those, you should be able to find PLENTY more.

ICA Collection!

We don't have every piece of music, but the inventory could give you some ideas. There are listings with groups of instruments. :)

+ Mozart Gran Partita, Berwald Septet, Dvorak Serenade for winds, many nonets for winds w/db (eg: Krommer, Mozart opera transcription), Francaix Octet, Martinon Octet

the double bass is a great anchor for wind chamber music - makes an incredible difference

I wrote a quintet for oboe, clarinet, violin, viola and double bass in 3 movements called "Diversions" around the same time (2003) that I was playing as a violist the Prokofiev Quintet of the same instrumentation. My work is around 15 minutes duration. The score and parts can be downloaded from my website http://www.nigelkeay.com/diversions.html
