If anyone is in the DC area this weekend and has the time, I urge you to go to the US Navy Memorial around 11:00 AM on Friday and hear the band i play in, the Eden Prairie HS Wind Ensemble perform. We were selected to represent my state in the National Festival of the States. Also, if anyone is going to see the National Symphony Orchestra performing Mahler's 2nd on Thursday night, the band playing on the Millennium Stage before the concert is us!! It should be interesting because we have to be at the high school to take the bus to the airport at 3:45 that morning, and are performing at 6:00 that night. Long day, lol. Seriously though, if you get the chance you really should check us out. We are an elite high school band that has played music in the past few years along the lines of "Paris Sketches" by Martin Ellerby, "Variations on a Medieval Tune" by Norman Dello Joio, and numerous Percy Granger pieces.
Come see us if you're in the area!! There likely will be performances by other bands going on as well as part of the National Festival of States.
