 Clarinet Mouthpiece Storage Case
Author: Llewsrac

I am searching for a Pouchette style Clarinet Mouthpiece storage case that will house up to twenty clarinet mouthpieces. Does anyone know who makes this case and where it might be purchased?

Have only seen one....maybe two....MPC cases in the 4 years I've been back to clarineting......
They are rare. Mostly for salesmen to carry their "wares". AND....not "recent". Since you can go to Music Stores and find MPCs in the case.
My advice is.....find a good old clarinet case and "gut" it.....then make your own "inards" for the MPCs you want to carry.

Just use something smaller than a vilin case for YOUR application.

I use a very unelegant plastic thing from Home Depot that contains 4 subdivided plastic "cartridges" each of which can hold up to 6 mps. These cartridges slip into grooved slots in the handled carrier. This is just for storage at home.

So does that mean you have, or plan to have at least 24 mouthpieces? Cause if so then I say SHAME ON YOU for hoarding all of them. Between you and your mouthpieces and GBK and his Buffets it's a wonder that used equipment even exists to be sold in this world . . .

Haha Alexi!! Yes, I have 24 or more, lost count. Some I bought specifically as mouthpieces to try, some came from....who knows where. I'd offer you one or more but don't want to offend you. I am currently liking my new Pyne Polycrystal the most.

Storage cases for clarinet mouthpieces and clarinet barrels would serve all with valuable equipment. The fact that these style cases do not exist, or at best very difficult to find, presents an opening in the market place for these items. I am sure once produced and marketed such cases would sell world wide.

Alexi -

Mouthpieces are interesting. I have 4. I purchased 1. The others came with clarinets or just happened by. I seem to notice the same thing with ligatures. I have a bunch bought 2 they are like socks I guess. Don't put them in the dryer though.

Helloooo, Llewsrac! I am surprised you didn't ask me to make one for you, since you have already bought one of my world-reknown refurbished clarinet cases. :-)
I can, and in fact have made cases for mouthpieces too....

And It's a good thing too! Cause I get HIGHLY offended and agitated when people offer me free stuff. Really.

No. In actuality I would probably, at the worst, accept it and find a way to pay you back when I can. I don't like having debts and 'owing' people, but I don't get offended (nor do I understand people who really TRULY get offended by acts of kindness).

Weinermusic.com carries a hardwood mouthpiece box by Angelica that will hold up to 10 mouthpieces.

Of course, and there is no reason one couldn't take an old Buffet or Selmer pochette case and convert it to a mp case.

This post is from 17 years ago, I’m sure OP has either found what they are looking for or made something to work in the mean time.

In any case that doesn’t seem to be what they were looking for. They were looking for a fitted case whereas that is more of a generic case with egg crate foam, not the best for mouthpieces as they can rub against one another. Also if you open the case at an angle all the mouthpiece will go crashing to one side (I used an egg crate foam case for awhile and chipped a mouthpiece that way😢). It looks really well made for what it is and I love the wood, but for specifically holding mouthpieces safely there’s are better options these days.

This is available at Thomann for less than $100:

I really like how this one looks with the leather exterior and the velvet interior.

Backun also makes one at less than $50!:

Jdbassplayer:
Thanks for the links, very interesting!
The Thomann case is nice, 007 design :)

At first my cases where designed for sax mouthpieces that have various shape and sizes. So I selected egg crate foam.

The consequence: my cases and suitcases accept soprano to contrabass clarinet mouthpieces, while blocking them when closed.
