About 10 years ago, there was a TV show on ABC called "The Commish." It was about a short, bald police cheif who solved crimes. At the beginning of the show, there was a semi-jazzy sounding clarinet solo. Does anyone know who played it and what the name of the song was ?

Abe Most was the clarinetist. He also did Northern Exposure and the Simpsons.

[ Slander is a very, very bad idea. Do not post what you cannot prove. Mark C. ] He played Benny Goodman's clarinet solos on the Benny Goodman story. He lives in Encino California.

Whether they're dodgy or not - an accusation that he sells arrangements with no copyright license, violating the law, needs proof lest YOU be accused of slander. Please provide such proof in public immediately.

I believe Abe Most passed away towards the end of last year.
Everything I've read indicates that Benny played his own solos in The Benny Goodman Story. Mark P, what makes you think Abe played them?

Rick,
Since you knew who played clarinet on the theme song from the Commish, I thought you might know who played piano? I really like whoever it is. Almost sounds like Allen Toussaint.
