Alex,
The other replies didn't answer this part, but from my experience with long rest periods, it is always good to learn some other part that plays while you are silent. You can do this by listening carefully to the other players. A brass line is good as they are usually easy to follow, but other parts can work as well.

Even if you count, this is a good backup to help you figure out where you are. Good luck.
