OMG; all of your suggestions have been so helpful, but I just spent some time adjusting screws #6 & 7, which have to do with the F# tone hole as suggested in several of your replies and the E and lower notes are back!! This is the greatest resource and your quick replies saved me just in time for a quintet rehearsal today. (includes Milhaud's Cheminee :-). Thanks again everyone.
