I've used this technique when traveling and I have to practice in a hotel room.
Take a heavy sweat shirt and pin/tie/sew the bottom shut. Next, push one hand through one of the sleeves so it sticks out inside the sweat shirt. Now put your instrument into the sweat shirt through the neck hole so your inside hand can reach it. Finally, put your other hand through the other sleeve. The oboe is now completely inside the muffling sweat shirt, you can hold/finger it comfortably, and access the reed without any problems.
