as far as I am concerned you are right with Albrecht Mayer's reeds, can't remember exactly it was years ago I did a course with him...but what I really remember is that they are quite hard to play, I almost threw my lungs up after playing 20 minutes...
but I really love his sound when he plays romantic pieces, for the classical stuff it is not my ideal, don't like his Mozart, but I adore his Schumann recording...
