Theyoungoboist,
I went to college after playing a few years in an Army band, so Army Navy music school first then later attended Shenandoah Conservatory of Music in Winchester, Va. for an oboe performance degree followed by a master's in music ed.
I did the masters program while on adjunct faculty there teaching oboe and music theory.
It was certainly not a big oboe school, but I was attracted by the composition and theory faculty at the time.
I am not sure about how common an acoustics class is or where they would be taught these days.
One thing to consider for school is the entire curriculum. Some schools teach only music and that can leave you high and dry later down the road. I voted for a well-rounded education and the extra math, science and all the liberal arts classes made for a very good education and had me in good shape to do other things besides music professionally along the way.
