If you want to try bells, David Weber is your man. I first met him at an IDRS conference years ago. He had a series of Lorée bells made from grenadilla, boxwood, zebra wood and such, all made with the same reamers.
At that time I was convinced it was the bore, not the wood, that produced the sound. Boy was I wrong! Every bell I put on my CR series Lorée made an entirely different instrument out of it. David is also a fine repairman.
Air fares are cheap right now. Take a couple of days and fly to Arizona...
I also know John Symer. He's a fine repairman as well and makes killer EH bocals. I wouldn't hesitate to put my horn in his hands.
