 Re: Attacking the low F

<<I'm using an easy reed right now, but I've had this problem with other reeds too>>
<< ... start higher or lower notes easier than G or F... >>

with these thoughts is mind...

reed prep -- moist & flexible enough, warm enough, and vibrated enough before starting pieces -- helps you find the exact 'sweet spot' on today's reed -- with its own idiosyncracies of the moment! -- before you need to play that F

sometimes it could be as easy as turning the reed over, F might play easily one side better than the other

embouchure adjustment -- loosen up a little between mid A and G, so that's maybe sooner than you think, from what you say it seems you're loose enough for low D, but perhaps aren't relaxing embouchure soon enough in G F# and F region

maybe the reeds you're getting aren't working for your embouchure in the G F# and F zone, try playing just these notes back and forth on all your playable reeds, make sure they're three distinct semi-tones, and also not wildly sharp or flat relative to each other, if you know what you can do to adjust them (or can't adjust, too late) then try that route

maybe, just maybe, as your right hand is taking control of fingering the lower joint, maybe you're just momentarily halting your air flow as muscle control shifts from left side to right side of your body?
