bummer (:-( new oboe doesn't work properly right out of the case
yes, get only a "Fox-approved" technician to work on your oboe for free during the entire warranty period -- it's normal for new instruments to need a bit of extra adjusting and fixing in the first year
just out of curiosity, take a look at the way the instrument pieces fit inside the case, do you have to press the lid down just a bit to shut it for locking, or does the lid fit perfectly before you lock it up?
if you have to press it, is the middle joint's left pinky set settled lower in the case than the G# key on the top joint? If so, the G# key could be taking the lid pressure directly
Fox has a website and i think they have some guidelines there for new instrument care etc, but surely printed instructions came with the instrument ... ?
other than this, isn't having a brand new instrument a lovely feeling :-)
