I'm looking for suggestions for contra bass reeds. I really don't want to use cane (warping... price, etc) so I'm looking for input from seasoned contra players.
I haven't seen synthetic reeds specific for contras, so are you guys using bari sax reeds?
Many thanks!

Bari sax reeds will work on Eb Contra Alto, but they’re not ideal for Bb Contrabass. I think it’s very hard to get good results without cane for that instrument.

Looks like Legere makes some synthetic contrabass reeds, which you can find on Amazon. I haven't played contra or tried these, so I don't know how they play, but the reviews on Amazon seem to be pretty good.

They are not really the dimensions of a Contrabass reed. They’re CA-sized, but they can be used.

I use a Legere bari sax reed, strength 3, on a Selmer C* contrabass clarinet mouthpiece because the dimensions of that mpc are perfect for that reed, in terms of the C*'s window width.

Fiberreed is better than Legere on Contrabass. Cleaner across the break and where the octave keys switch. Pricy though at $46/Reed. I use a M and a trimmed MS which is brighter sounding.
