A Brilhart Tonalin on a Buffet RC? I say go for it!
I have a Tonalin 4, 4-on-table, and have found it to work well with every clarinet I've tried it on. It's especially good (perhaps even curiously so) on my Ridenour RCP-576BC--the most "legit" instrument in my rotation--so I imagine it would do just fine on a Buffet, Yamaha 650, and the like.
Eric is correct about the pitch characteristics. It's tough to get up to A=440 with the Tonalin on a Backun Alpha.
