 A Scale Arpeggio
Author: Clarence1

Hey, I'm wondering how to play an A scale arpeggio all the way up to high A, considering both high E and high A are the same fingering.

As of right now I am moving my pinky from the G# key of my right hand to the C# key below it, but that is such an awkward and poorly technical move.

Any suggestions?

Raise your right little finger off the Ab/Eb key and press the F#/C# key with your left little finger.

Better yet, learn to voice the change, using the swab in the bell exercise http://test.woodwind.org/clarinet/BBoard/read.html?f=1&i=158954&t=158878.

I've always taught it this way. Play the high E and then raise the 2nd finger in the left hand gently as you voice slightly higher, comes out all the time. So the E is
O23, the A is OO3, no change in the right hand. I have a good fingering chart for the high notes on my web page, check it out. That's included stating, good for skips.
