 Andino Clarinet

A student brought in a couple the Andino clarinets to her lesson. One was plastic and the other was a more dense "polyblend" material. One of these will be an outdoor and marching band instrument for her. I was impressed...nice sound and good intonation. I usually recommend the Yamaha YCL-250 for those needing a second clarinet but if these hold up they may be another good alternative.

But, my question is...does anyone know the composition of this polyblend material ? Also, has anyone used these over an extended period of time?

The Andino clarinet (as you may know) is Luis Rossi's entry into the student line of clarinets. He makes terrific pro clarinets. You might go onto his website (www.rossiclarinet.com) and ask him a question directly. He's always responded quickly to my questions about Rossis, which I play.

The distributor in US for this clarinet is having some financial difficulty at this time. I've heard, but not read, that they have filed for Chapter 11 (Gemstone). I've noticed that their web site is down. I'm wondering if another distributor will be found.
