Well, we have a Band Trip in 2 days, going around elementary schools to play. I have to play something to demonstrate what the clarinet is. Any Ideas? (Something within 10~30 seconds is probably a good idea)
Funny thing my band director mentioned was: He had the same band trip a few years ago, the during the Trumpet demonstration, the lead trumpet Stood up and started playing O Canada (ya, im canadian)... so then the audience had to stand up too and wait for him to finish...

Having done this (too) many times while recruiting elementary kids to play the clarinet, the 3 most motivating and recognizeable tunes are:
1. Theme from "The Flintstones"
2. Theme from "The Pink Panther"
3. The opening theme/call from "Woody Woodpecker"
"Peter and the Wolf" is ok, but (surprisingly) not as many students know it as you might think ...GBK

I miss the "Baby Elephant Walk" here... (far more clarinet-centric than "Pink Panther")

Wow. We played some of those songs mentioned like Baby Elephant Walk and the such as a little fun piece to get the audience at our county concert more enthusiastic. I must say they liked it.

we ARE PLAYING PETER AND THE WOLF!! lol, just i have no idea about the Cadenza (i dont think there is one in our version)

Play the cat theme from "Peter and the Wolf." Our grade school music classes usually cover that piece when learning about instruments. Be thankful you don't have to play the bird theme (flute)!

Check right around rehearsal number 20 for the cadenza. It don't think it says cadenza, but that is the passage in question. Make sure the cat gets up the tree and once it's there, it doesn't fall out.
