question about intonation

Hello all,

I have a quick question regarding intonation: I have been trying some articulation exercises from the Barret, and it has been extremely difficult for me to play at the pp level while staying in tune - it seems only at mf and above am I able to maintain the correct pitch. Does anyone know why my pitch drops when I play softly? How do I correct this problem?
