 comparing oboes

I am thinking about getting a new oboe. I currently play a Loree which is about 20-25 years old. I get on with it okay but I've never decided completely how much I like its sound - it's a little too 'sweet' for my taste. (I bought this instrument 2nd hand when I was a teenager and didn't really have a lot to compare it with!)

So - I know this is a bit of a 'piece of string' question, but would anyone care to make some general comparisons of oboe makes, given the same oboist and the same reed? Or is this impossible?

I'm based in the UK so my choice is out of the following:
another Loree
Marigaux
Howarth
Sound Alchemy (quite new, not sure if anyone has come across that yet!)
Puchner
Rigoutat

Any thoughts appreciated :-)
