What do you think is the best bore oil and why?
I did search past posts for oiling discussions and see when and how mentioned but not the specific oil.
I use sweet almond oil and a great repairman out here in Colorado (Larry Naylor) offers his own concoction that included almond oil. He also offers to pressure treat old instruments (a 30 day bath in an oil tank).
Larry told me he tried to get Laubin interested but got yelled at over the topic.
Covey told me he did not think oil would penetrate very far based on pressure treatment experiments where wood was soaked in oil under pressure then later cut to reveal how far the oil penetrated.
He also thought the surface treatment was worthy.
And would the bore oil be the best to wipe on the exterior surface of the oboe or some other 'polish'?
Gracias from Colorado...
